On practice nights WUG uses “The Ukulele Song Book” published by Sasha Music Publishing, Available at Dale Cleeves.
The Banjo ukulele is a wonderfull thing, strong, powerfull and brightly strident, perfect for all those hits from the ’20s and ’30s. However its those exact qualities that make it unsuitable for playing in an all ukulele group. The Banjolele was developed so to have more volume to accompany a band and to be heard over noisy dance halls, they tend stand out like a saxophonist at a kazoo convention in amongst a group peanut Ukes. And so its for that reason we ask our members not bring theirs to our practice nights.
The WUG logo is available to be embroiderd at “HIP POCKET Workwear”, 178 Leigbig Street Warrnambool. $7.70 on garments purchased in store (add extra if you bring your own)
Drawn loosely to have the feel of the traditional Hibiscus design of many Hawaiian shirts. The Warrnambool Ukulele Group logo depicts a “Group” of four Ukuleles, representing the four sizes of uke soprano, concert, tenor and baritone seemingly chaotically placed but forming a rough Whales fluke, a common symbol of Warrnambool in the negative space between them. The colours White, Ultramarine and Green chosen because their initials thusly arranged also spell out WUG.
WUG Stickers are available from Victor at practice nights, $2 each or $9 for 1 sheet of 6.
All WUG members enjoy a generous discount on all things Ukulele at Dale Cleeves Music.
